" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

Our Position on Obama's Election
The person you call President Obama ... ."

Wednesday, January 04, 2006

Gipper, Jr.

Sen George Allen, Jr.
Look for shakeups on Sen. John McCain's staff in the coming weeks as he begins to strategize about deploying an organization leading into his decision to run for President in 2008. Based on less than stellar results from fundraising forays in New York and elsewhere in the past six months, McCain is looking to strengthen his outreach to conservatives, and to shore up his financial standing compared to Republican challengers.

Right now, the only stated candidates focused on making plans for a run are Sen. George Allen and Gov. Mitt Romney. Others are exploring the possibility, including former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Sen. Sam Brownback, and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. -- Prowler
Circa 1997, on FreeRepublic.com, I  posted about upcoming stars in the Republican party, and focused on then Virginia  Gov. George Allen, Jr.  Back then, there were organized lurkers who went absolutely bonkers whenever anything negative was written about Hillary -- I mean bonkers!  It was funny.  Well, my post on Allen drew the same vitriolic response, way out of proportion to what a relatively unknown governor warranted.  I'd hit a nerve.

Allen was then, and still is, the quintessential Ronald Reagan.  He has a quick wit, engaging smile, and by his actions proved that he is a real deal  conservative.  Of the potentials listed above, only Giuliani has a real shot of beating Allen   - once he gets going, but I'm not sure Giuliani can beat Allen  for the nomination, which requires support from conservatives.  I'm heartened.

"I did not vote for Obama but he is remarkable. In less than three weeks in office he has collected more than $150,000 in back taxes."

I agree. I've heard Allen interviewed and have heard him speak. I like him. Giuliani would kick terrorist butt, no doubt. I hope to hell McCain realizes that he's stabbed Bush in the back too many times. I almost would sit on my hands rather than vote for that asshat(I said almost).

I'd love a HRC vs. Allen match. I think the Dems are going to rethink a HRC nomination. It will bring dead Republicans back from the dead to vote against her. She's got two legs up with her money and her organization. She'll be tough for any other Dem to beat her.

If she's runs, the Dems are out for another 4 years. When Bill gets on the campaign trail, it's gonna turn lots of stomachs. Of course the MSM will have their noses up her ass.

A real problem for McCain is the Democrat's penchant for revenge. The first thing you'll see if he's nominated is a McCain version of "Swift Boaters," POWs who assert (without much proof) that McCain betrayed them in the Hanoi Hilston. Don't matter if it's not true, the media will jump all over it.

Of course, McCain has zero chance for the nomination because he's despised by the people who matter in the primaries .. conservative voters.

Until I got out of the Navy I lived in Virginia and have become a real fan of George Allen. Like Reagan, Allen has the ability to come across as a normal guy despite his political success. Not sure if he still does it, but Allen used to call into the local sports radio station on Fridays and pick the winners for the weekend football games.

When he was governor, he wore cowboy boots to work. Don't tell the euros - they'll jump off a bridge at the thought of another cowboy.

He's very comfortable with himself, unlike a Kerry who's always exaggerating himself.
If he puts the right organization together, I think his communication skills will make him unbeatable. I like him.

You just had to raise the ugly vision of Hillary with two legs up.

If I had to vote between any scum sucking Demoncrat or McCain, I'd vote for the Democrat in hopes to hasten civil war. At least I know what I was getting with the Democrat. I'm stock piling ammo now... just in case.

I like Allen a lot, but Senators do not do well in presidential races...
