" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

Our Position on Obama's Election

Skunk Watch
The Oakland Tribune  says it's time for Congress to heed the warning of George Orwell. "To that end, we're asking for your help: Mail us or drop off your tattered copies of '1984.' When we get 537 of them, we'll send them to every member of the House of Representatives and Senate and to President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney."
What I get from this is another example of  the cloistered, selective liberal mind   They have a penchant for seeing trees, and ignoring the forest, as the saying goes..  For example, here is the summary of 1984 from the Literature Network, where you, and presumably congress, can read the entire book without any largess from the Trib.
"In 1984, Winston Smith lives in London which is part of the country Oceania. The world is divided into three countries that include the entire globe: Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia. Oceania, and both of the others, is a totalitarian society led by Big Brother, which censors everyone’s behavior, even their thoughts. Winston is disgusted with his oppressed life and secretly longs to join the fabled Brotherhood, a supposed group of underground rebels intent on overthrowing the government."
I don't think the Oakland Tribune wants to encourage a revolt against oppressive, politically correct  government, do you?  So what message is it the Tribune's editors wants Bush to read?  The part about how history has been erased, to correspond with the new think? --  which is what this passage from chapter 4 is about.
'What is it, do you think?' said Julia.

'I don't think it's anything -- I mean, I don't think it was ever put to any use. That's what I like about it. It's a little chunk of history that they've forgotten to alter. It's a message from a hundred years ago, if one knew how to read it.'

'And that picture over there' -- she nodded at the engraving on the opposite wall -- 'would that be a hundred years old?'

'More. Two hundred, I dare say. One can't tell. It's impossible to discover the age of anything nowadays.'

She went over to look at it. 'Here's where that brute stuck his nose out,' she said, kicking the wainscoting immediately below the picture. 'What is this place? I've seen it before somewhere.'

'It's a church, or at least it used to be. St Clement Danes its name was.' The fragment of rhyme that Mr Charrington had taught him came back into his head, and he added half-nostalgically:
Has there been any recent altering of  historical fact?  By whom?  Write a 500 word essay and turn it  in tomorrow.

"I did not vote for Obama but he is remarkable. In less than three weeks in office he has collected more than $150,000 in back taxes."

So let me get this straight: Leftard newspapers are attempting to warn the President of the United States of America and the Congress of the United States of America against, er, totalitarianism ( I guess) by sending them copies of a book against Leftard Totalitarianism?!?

W.T.F., over?

Rodge, these people are too fucking stupid to waste bullets on. Let's just hang em all, then re-use the rope for something useful. Like dog collars.
