We're not giving up. We're waiting for a better opportunity to win.

" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

Lessons for the liberal booboise

Illinois Congressman Mark Kirk recently set off a firestorm with these remarks:

"I'm OK with discrimination against young Arab males from terrorist-producing states. I'm OK with that. I think that when we look at the threat that's out there, young men, between, say, the ages of 18 and 25 from a couple of countries, I believe a certain amount of intense scrutiny should be placed on them."

I can't for the life of me understand what people find racist or illogical about this.  We are not talking about internment camps, we are talking about paying more attention to a segment of the population that currently has the highest statistical probability of being involved in terrorist activity. Forcing young, male Arab-American travelers to submit to the small indignity of a bag search at a slightly higher rate than the rest of us is hardly shredding the Bill of Rights.

But such a concept is too much for people like Chicago Tribune columnist Dawn Turner Trice whose recent argument that profiling won't make us any safer goes beyond sloppy to downright silly: -- [read more]

"I did not vote for Obama but he is remarkable. In less than three weeks in office he has collected more than $150,000 in back taxes."

You want to be offended? Fly El Al to Israel. These guys passed me from one questioner to another. They checked out my friend I was visiting, good thing he was military. They completely took everything out of my luggage and spread it out on a long table and went through it all. They opened presents I was bringing for his boys and wife. They left me, unattended, with a seemingly easy stroll to get away. They walked me to the plane and met my connecting flight and walked me onto that plane(this was in the quaint old days of plain old hijacking). Hey, I'm white. What's up with this? I was told my newly issued passport and paying for my ticket with cash set off red flags.

And you know what? I was glad they were so thorough. And I told them. Why would any innocent person react differently? Would you like your last thought, as the plane explodes, to be, "At least I wasn't offened?"

I honestly think that for some liberals the answer is yes. Lord save us.

Abdel Rahman al-Rashed, a Saudi journalist in London said:

It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, he writes, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims. ... We cannot clear our names unless we own up to the shameful fact that terrorism has become an Islamic enterprise; an almost exclusive monopoly, implemented by Muslim men and women.

Roger, You've probably seen this by now, by Daniel Pipes:

He says:
"Converts to Islam are taking over the terrorist operations previously carried out mainly by Muslim-born immigrants and their children."

A good buddy of mine, working at a fine corporation, as a coder, is quite black. Now and again, he rants about being questioned by Dayton cops, or whatever, coz he fits the description.

At same corporation, they have a keycard, but tailgaiting (entering aftering after someone else opened the door) is common. I do profile everyone I allow to tailgate.

This is a difficult issue, and I haven't made up my mind yet, tho leaning against. In America. The Heartland, at least. Where I am.
