Suicidal glory is the luxury of the irresponsible.
We're not giving up. We're waiting for a better opportunity to win.

" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

The Best We Have
I received this e-mail last night.
"I'm in Quantico tonight, having spent last night in DC freezing my ass off.  My son will be commissioned a Lieutenant of Marines tomorrow, and I can barely contain myself in all my many complicated emotions (Rummy is at his very best on CSPAN as I write this).  I know that you read the W$J faithfully, please go find Matt Pottinger's piece on A18 of today's (15 Dec).  I'll be there tomorrow with him and my son." - CASCA
Casca is a long time friend of this blog, and I offer heartfelt congratulations to him for having raised such a fine son.  And salutes to Lt. Puraty, USMC, and Lt. Pottinger, USMC.  Prayers too.

"I did not vote for Obama but he is remarkable. In less than three weeks in office he has collected more than $150,000 in back taxes."

That's as good as it gets. You both have my prayers. However with the Marines, it's the other guys who need them.

Merry Christmas. God bless America.

Thanks Rog, that was very kind. I've had a day full of lumps in my throat and eyes blurred by emotion. I'll send you some pics of the event and a long email when I get back to a broadband connection.

It really is true, "Once a Marine, always a Marine". General Coleman was the speaker at the morning parade, and made a few comments that I'll never escape, one being that at Paris Island, MCRD San Diego, and Quantico an angel came down and stamped an Eagle Globe and Anchor on the heart of every newly minted Marine there. God Dammit if it isn't true. I thought that I'd put these people well behind me, but find that I'm closer than I ever was.
