Thank you for all the suggestions Wednesday.  What I failed to mention was that it was my 73rd wedding anniversary. My  tip-off was looking outside, and seeing a brand new Hoveround in the driveway with a ribbon on it.  Crap!  I needed something quick, and it struck me that I could print out movie tickets bought online.  Anyway, it didn't work, because she yelled down, "I know you forgot again, so don't go buying  crap on the internet that I don't want."  After 82 years (we cohabited for 9) she knows me.  What she did want, it turned out,  was for me to prune all the yard trees.  I'm not making that up.

That night we got Chinese, and I rented two movies (that I picked out).  We watched Bewitched Wednesday night with Sushi Moo shu pork.  I was in the mood for non-chick movies, and I think Nicole Kidman is the second most beautiful woman in America.  Er, Australia. Bewitched was okay.  I think a lot of opportunities were lost, but it was okay, and made me laugh a few times.  Nicole Kidman is hot.

We had rented The Aviator several months ago, on satellite, when a lightning storm cut us off ½ hour into it, so last night was our second attempt (so you know we're not hopelessly behind the times).   Howard Hughes was a true American renaissance man, and of course the movie received raves, so I was excited last night to settle down in Lazy Boy with a bag of  Orville Redenbacher's Coconut Oil Plus, and hit "go."

I've read several Hughes biographies, and as far as I can recollect none of them alluded to any early manifestation of the  germ phobia that dominated the last years of his life, yet it's this movie's DNA.  That  bugged me a lot, but MS loved that aspect of the screenplay.  She turned the Aviator into a chick-flick.  I'd have edited one hour out of it, and had more aviating / less Kate Hepburn (although I did love that her wealthy Connecticut family were hard core socialists.  Best line -- delivered by Hughes to mom Hepburn -- "You don't care about money because you've always had it."). 

I think if Hughes was alive today, he'd own a B-52 and bomb Seattle.
