" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

Here's your scintillating
In an editorial today the WaPost [Mr. Bush's Storm], despite timeline evidence quite to the contrary,  blames FEMA commissioner Michael Brown  for what?  Not putting a gun to Governor Blanco's head and forcing her to make an actual decision?  The Post blames Bush for  appointing Brown,  and for staying in Crawford too long [even though we, and presumably the WaPost, know he was on top of it, all but ordering Blanco to evacuate the city during this time].

Like the New York Times, the WaPost also blames Bush for less than scintillating rhetorical skills.  I too wish Bush had the ability to make better use of the bully pulpit, but I'm not sure the MSM really want the resultant string of pitch fork carrying mobs that would surely result if the President chose to take off his gentlemanly gloves and scintillate.
Reporter: Mr President, are you satisfied with the results so far?
President Bush Brain Bubble "Of course not.  I wish I could send in the Marines, arrest these miserably incompetent Louisiana asshole officials, and start saving lives."
President Bush: No, I am not at all satisfied.
The New Orleans  "funding cuts" that Bush hating canker blossoms screech about?  1.) only for preliminary plans – and 2.) any approved project would take approximately twenty years to complete.  That's the sort of news a responsible news agency would be reporting.  If they really want someone to blame for New Orleans flooding, there is a far worthier candidate.   In fact, the same MoFos who were probably responsible for the doomed space-shuttle Challenger mission in 1986 (environmentally correct putty),  the 2004 Columbia shuttle disaster (environmentally correct tiles), and the recent near Space shuttle Discovery (environmentally correct tiles- again!) disaster could stand a good looking at ... The Sierra Club-Enviro-wackos and their congressional lap dogs.  To wit:
[T]here was a proposed flood prevention project, aborted nearly thirty years ago, which would have alleviated the flooding of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina. This project was to build floodgates at Chef Menteur and Rigolets passes to block storm surges from the Gulf causing Lake Pontchartrain to flood New Orleans – which is what happened during Hurricane Katrina.

Why was this project aborted? Environmentalists sued to have it stopped. An environmentalist group stated the proposed Rigolets and Chef Menteur floodgates of the Lake Pontchartrain Hurricane Prevention Project would have a negative effect on the environment.

During the course of the trial the defense counsel, US Attorney Gerald Gallinghouse, felt so strongly that the project should continue that, according to one source, he said, “…. He would go before the United States Congress with (Congressman) F. Edward Hebert to pass a resolution, exempting the Hurricane Barrier Project from the rules and regulations of the National Environmental Policy Act because, in his opinion, it is necessary to protect the citizens of New Orleans from a hurricane. “

Despite this, the judge ruled in favor of the environmentalists and the project was aborted. However, the ACE (Army Corps of Engineers) considered this project so important they never scrapped the plans for it. ["Environmentalists Partly to Blame for New Orleans Flooding"]

"I did not vote for Obama but he is remarkable. In less than three weeks in office he has collected more than $150,000 in back taxes."

Interesting post (on several points) for my first cup of French Roast. To continue w/your format:
1.) Bush's Storm? Just another opportunity to link the Clinton name to current events! WTF? When God chose Moses to lead His people, MOses shrank from the duty because he believed he was a poor orator, and pleaded w/God to send his brother Aaron (the silver tongue) with him. We all know where that where that got them. A golden calf and forty years of wandering. Clinton's silver tongue has done the same w/his lying, conscienceless soul.

2.) rhetorical skills..We all know if Bush were not the honorable man he is, his tongue would be a sword that swiped off all of their heads. Like he's so often stated, "...there's a little game they like to play in Washington (DC)..."

3.) Environmentalism is not for the protection of mankind, but the elimination of him to preserve only hippies and tinderboxed forests. Space shuttles may blow up because the tiles might affect space mites; levees might disturb fairy shrimp ;and owls protect us from the greater expansion of home building, and shopping bags.

It will take more than an orator to stop this insanity because...
As Ronald Reagan once said: . the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isnt so! joyce

Way satisfying response ... thanks.
