" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

Asshats in the sand
James S. Robbins takes a comprehensive look at the leftwingcommie's most recent cause du impeachment [Downing Street Memo] on National Review Online "Causing a Commotion"

Like the guy said, it's impossible to win an argument with an ignorant man, but there is a slim chance of making him less ignorant, and Robbins gives it a go..

"The memo raises three issues dear to the hearts of President Bush's critics — the timing of the decision to go to war with Saddam, the WMD rationale, and the use (read: abuse) of intelligence to create the casus belli. One paragraph in the memo conveniently contains all three:

C [Richard Dearlove, Head of MI-6] reported on his recent talks in Washington. There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.

"This and other excerpts have caused a furor on the American Left. Ralph Nader is calling for impeachment (again), and John Kerry has vowed to bring the matter to the Senate floor. Of course, the memo simply contains the impressions of an aide of the impressions of British-cabinet officials of the impressions of unnamed people they spoke to in the United States about what they thought the president was thinking. It is sad when hearsay thrice-removed raises this kind of ruckus, especially since a version had been reported three years ago. As smoking guns go, it is not high caliber." [End snippage]

I think the best thing to do is have a huge shoot-out with these mofos in the Nevada desert, but of course dueling is against the law (when did that happen?), so I guess we'll just have to be satisfied with ridiculing them. Sheesh, that's getting so old.

"I did not vote for Obama but he is remarkable. In less than three weeks in office he has collected more than $150,000 in back taxes."
Gayle Miller
Bush said during the 2000 campaign that Saddam should be removed from office. And he said it repeatedly afterward before 9/11. There were no Democrats who disagreed with him.

If fact, 72 Democrats in Congress (including Kerry) signed a petition to Clinton to take military action against Iraq.

There was not one world leader who thought that there was no WMD in Iraq as of 2002. There was not one Democrat in Congress or in the White House who thought that there was no WMD in Iraq as of 2002.

Pretty hard for him to be impeached when he did what everyone wanted because of the facts that everyone believed.

Jake, we're dealing with angry liberals here; most are True Believers. For them, it's whatever it takes.
