This assessment of the Iraqi parliamentary elections by the Asia Times ( Iran wins big in Iraq's elections) is rather glum at first blush, but it might just as well  been headlined "Democrats win big in Vermont."  A country can survive nincompoops and rascals, as long as its constitution is observed.  In that respect, Iraq faces the same challenges we do here (although we seem to be losing that battle).   Furthermore, the article assumes that Iran will be allowed to live (without radical surgery, including a heart and lung transplant.).  We have done everything within our power to bring about a stable, democratic Iraq,  no thanks to  Democrats who aligned with the world's leftists against the effort.  But their mischief may ultimately lead to a huge unraveling if we back off of Iran, and a great Crusade will follow, winner takes the ruins.  All this leads me to alter my previous assertion that we can have a strong nation, or Democrats with powers, but not both, to include the World.  If we really were the "united" states we would prevail, but we're not.  But, hey, we do have Geena Davis and Cindy Sheehan to celebrate.
