One of the more frequent questions people ask me when I go to the liquor store is, "Rodge, how do you poach your eggs so good?" The answer is, I add a slug of vinegar to the water before adding the egg. Makes it coaggalate (there is no vinegar taste in the finished product).. If you do the same thing when hard boiling eggs, it keeps the cracked eggs from running (... and if you throw a tea bag into the boiling water, the shells are dyed brown, so you don't confuse then with fresh eggs). As a matter of fact, so versatile is vinegar that if you were stranded with nothing more than a gallon of it, and a big roll of duct tape, you'd do just fine. If you tell your spouse that you quit smoking, but really haven't? Blow the smoke out the window, then soak a towel in vinegar and twirl it over your head. Gets rid of the smoke smell (other smells too) like magic.
