In  Means of Ascent, the second volume in Robert Caro's Pulitzer Prize winning  biographical trilogy about Lyndon Johnson, we see how  Johnson "won" the Senate election of 1948 due to massive fraud and ballot box stuffing. The backdrop is an utterly corrupt Texas democratic party that was in place for Johnson to use.  So corrupt, that even when an overwhelming majority of Texans later began voting conservative, democrats were able to maintain voting district lines that kept them in power, and send disproportionate numbers to congress, and the Texas State House. Small wonder, then, that the brilliant political architect who brought their house of cards down, Tom DeLay, gets the patented Newt Gingrich treatment from rats left to dry in the sun.

Any.  Let me say it again.  Any person feigning to ask the question "Do you think Ronnie Earle's indictment of Tom DeLay  is politically motivated?" ... . Any person asking that question may fairly have the dreaded  A , for liberal  a**hole, branded onto his or her forehead.

Forget that Earle has a history of prosecuting political enemies.  Forget that his home base, Travis County, is a liberal snake pit.  Forget that the  indictmet fails to spell out any specific charge against DeLay.  Forget that Ronnie Earle has a history of stopping the prosecutions of companies that decide to contribute to his favorite cause, Ronnie Earle.  Forget that Ronnie Earle is certifiable, having once indicted himsel!  Forget that, seconds after DeLay's indictment was announced, the national Democratic party launched a coordinated  "Republicans are corrupt" media campaign.  Forget all that. Here's all you need to know.

Ronnie Earle had film makers in place, already making a documentary about ...  Ronnie Earle (The Big Buy)!

Am I wrong to suggest that you have to be a capital A not to smell that stink?
