" I don't think I've ever met a Liberal whom I didn't like on a personal basis. That said, if your goal is to change minds and influence people, it's probably not a good idea to begin by asserting that virtually all elected Democrats are liars. But what the hell."

Our Position on Obama's Election
The person you call President Obama ... ."

Saturday, June 04, 2005

I have to laugh, else I'd cry.
One of my regular readers and commenters is a 15 year old student from the Left Coast, Josh Fahrni.  I've had a few other young adults pop in too.  I'm impressed that they  1) are politically engaged  at an age when all I worried about was quiff and baseball, and 2) are able to articulate so well in a public forum.  Wow.  What brings them to mind is this guy  named "howard" who leaves tracks here, from time to time, from a site called /// "howie."

Young Howard (I'm guessing with the name) is a student at Princeton University where he majors in education, and minors in history.  Yes, I know what you're thinking, and you'd be right.  Here's Howie's scores on one of those blog quizzes, " HOW LIBERAL/CONSERVATIVE ARE YOU?" I also took the test, and my scores are next to his.

Now this is one of the most loaded and sophomoric deals I have ever run up against but, as you see, even I showed more precious diversity than he.  Here's an example, in case you don't want to take the "test:" yourself.

13. The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.

False
True
Delivering a profit to shareholders is a fiduciary responsibility, something that Princeton used to teach.  Corporate social responsibility?    To the extent there is any, it falls within the parameter of  the fiduciary mandate, i.e., it makes sense to have a happy work force, and to enjoy good community relations.  But, Howie, corporate officers may be prosecuted for neglecting the former obligation, but not the latter.  I assume this poll was ginned up by Howie himself, or someone with the same Michael Moore world view.  Not a bad idea, though ...  might land the author a job doing polls for the New York Times, or CBS.

Here's another Howie brainstorm.

AN UNNECESSARY WAR?

Was the war necessary? War is never necessary. I am talking about the American «Revolution». Totally unnecessary. Think about it. Supported by maybe 30% of the population, opposed by another 30%, and the remainder of the population was undecided. Hardly a popular cause. So, what would have happened had their never been a «revolution»? First, slavery would have been abolished in 1833 not 1865. Result: lives saved. So then there would be no Civil War. More lives saved.
But, you say, what about independence?
What about it?
Have you ever heard about the Canadian Revolution, the Australian Revolution, the New Zaeland [sic] Revolution? Of course not. Those nations had no revolutions! More lives saved. When they grew and matured as societies, the United Kingdom voluntarily gave them their independence! But what abot [sic] the Stamp Act? The Quebec Act? Did you know the «colonists» objected to the freedom of Roman Catholics in Quebec? These and other so-called «intolerable» acts could have been resolved by sitting down and calmly discussing their differences in an adult manner; working it out. There would be no Unitd [sic] States; North America would today be more like a large Canada with no imperialism. Think how many lives would have been saved.

Finally, there is this gem:  "Progressive change is coming. Regardless of how illegally Shrub was «reelected»  ... .

So there you have it.  America's future, which is why of course home schooling and vouchers are so important.  Go get this cluck Josh ... but wear gloves and show mercy, he is unarmed. .

....I've never seen Don anywhere, in this blogs comments or any others...That's just mean...*cries*

I'm in the middle of moving with my family, and I gotta say, I'm glad I plugged into the hotel dial-up. Rodger, seriously, I come here everyday, 20 times a day, just to read what you have to say. All of it is great, and I have to say, stumbling across this blog, was probably what drove me to BECOME knowledgeable with politics. I read you before I ever read Coulter, I listened to what you had to say long before I ever listened to Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity. I only recently got off my ass to actually comment on what you had to say. Really, whether anyone else appreciates it or not, you do a great thing-hell, I get my news from you. I appreciate everything you do Rodger, for getting me motivated to learn about my country, and her leaders, and for educating me on a daily basis, in one way or another.

Keep stickin' it to 'em.

Josh - That was the best slapdown you could have give Don! Way To Go!!!

As an old fart, I have to comment on the American Revolution bullshit. I learned in school that over half the fricking continent was owned by other nations at the time of the Declaration of Independence. France, Spain, Portugal, etc. all had an interest in the new world. And Britain had many a war with other European interests at the time, wars that were NOT solved by sitting down and talking like adults. Had the revolution not happened, then more than half the North American land mass would still belong to Spain, and the continually wars between European Asshats would have spilt over into the new world, creating mass havoc with the natives. Think of all the lives that would have been lost if WWI and WWII had been fought in North America, as well as Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Rim.
